What is a cell?
When you are working in a spreadsheet, you'll be using cells. That's what we call those little rectangular boxes you can see below. When you are making formulas you will need to know the name of those cells. Don't fret, it's crazy easy.
The highlighted cell in this graphic is named after the column and the row that it is in. The column comes first (in this case it is the letter A), and the row follows (in this case it is the number 1). This gives the cell a name, A1.
When you are writing formulas, you'll sometimes need to refer to the cell. It means your formula will look something like this:
