For most people, the Digital World is very new - but not for you. You've lived in it! All those devices you take for granted that connect you to a global system of satellites and servers, they aren't just handy - they change the way you act and change the way you socialise - but do they change the way you think?
This unit is all about understanding how the physical world merges with the digital world to create your world.
While completing this unit you will be:
Assessing your digital footprint.
Manipulating the truth.
Becoming a digital citizen.
Understanding the link between your physical and digital worlds.
Syllabus outcomes being assessed:
H1.1 Analyses extended and short texts in a range of forms to gain knowledge, understanding and appreciation of how English is used to convey meaning.
H2.1 Comprehends sustained written, spoken and multi-modal texts at an appropriate level to enrich their personal lives and to provide a sound basis for current and future education, careers and citizenship.
H2.2 Demonstrates further development of skills in expression in English at an appropriate level of accuracy and fluency to enrich their personal lives and to provide a sound basis for current and future education, careers and citizenship.
H2.3 Demonstrates skills in using the language conventions of a variety of textual forms, including literary texts, informative texts and texts for vocational contexts.
H3.2 Recognises a range of audiences and selects appropriate text forms,vocabulary, style and tone when writing and speaking for those audiences.
H4.2 Works effectively, both as an individual and within a group, to research, select, organise and communicate information and ideas related to a variety of topics.
At the end of this course you will be given a series of questions that allow you to use the information you have gathered from your research to demonstrate what you have uncovered. You will be able to refer back to your responses to the questions in the lessons below, so it would be wise to answer them well as it will help you later on. Some of the questions will also require you to demonstrate how much you have learned about the way you exist in the digital world and its impact upon you!
