This is one of the mandatory sections of this course. To complete the course, you MUST complete all mandatory sections.
In this section you will:
Access another student's job advert through the spreadsheet created while completing component M2 - Preparing a job advert.
Analyse a set of resumes to help select a style that would be appropriate for the position.
Respond to the job advert you have selected in resume form.
Formally submit your resume to an email address using appropriate language styles.
Read through the job advertisements created by your fellow students. Select one to apply for.
I can't believe that's an entire 'step'! Go to step two. Do not pat yourself on the back for this; this seriously should not even be a 'step'!
Welcome to step two. Since you'll be writing a resume (using your current life experience) for the position you just selected, you'll need a previously written resume or a template. The following examples come from job-finding websites and they target various fields. Look through them and select one that suits the position you have selected.
As you are reading through them, notice the language they are using to sell themselves. Pay attention to the features of their experience and how they draw attention to the skills they hope set them apart from others.
Using Google Docs, create your own resume template and fill in the skills you think help you apply for the job you have selected. Remember to address each of the criteria they have established. For students who would like more flexibility with their resume, try creating one in Word and then uploading it to Google Docs.
